    DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS (“The DoO”)The Director of Operations will have overall responsibility for the manufacturing facility for The Aeroacoustic Corporation in Darlington, SC. Aeroacoustic is an OEM in industrial acoustics and is historically one of the oldest and most recognized and respected manufactures in the field. The DoO will oversee everything from the RFQs that come in, to the final product being shipped out on time and to quality standards. It is preferable for the DoO to have an engineering degree, but if not, he/she should have at least some understanding of engineering and prints. The DoO will have continual contact with and guidance from the NJ corporate offices.

    The DoO must ensure that:

    • Each department is working efficiently and together to achieve the goal of delivering quality product on time and to customer specification; and

    • Customers are prioritized, from the initial communication / RFQ to possible complaints and post delivery questions or issues; and

    • Quality is prioritized and any QC issues are addressed fully and thoroughly with input from all departments necessary, often with the DoO replying to the customers directly if product was shipped that was not to quality standards; and

    • The company maintains its ISO certification; and

    • There is a safe work environment, with no OSHA violations, or that any such potential violations are addressed with urgency and integrity; and

    • The jobs are profitable using the ERP system, whether on an individual basis or on a customer basis, or by category of product; and

    • Company policies and procedures are followed by all employees; and

    • Employee / personnel issues are handled professionally, confidentially and without bias or prejudice Responsibilities will include:

    • Management of the engineering team.

    • Quoting: Reviewing / revising quoting procedures and implementing new procedures for all the differing product lines, business lines or customers, assuring that RFQs are handled properly by the engineering team (i.e. 24 hour reply to emails, covering for an absent employee)

    • RFQs & Quotes: Receiving/reviewing/acknowledging RFQs, assuring that RFQs are assumed by individuals in the engineering team; assuring that quotes are issued within a reasonable time period and within customer deadlines, review of all “large project” quotes before submission to customer to assure that there are no errors or omissions, and following up (with the customer or engineer who quoted) after quotes are submitted

    • Oversight of and involvement in all large scale projects to assure timely shipments. This will include assuring that pre-weld meetings between engineering and weld supervisor are conducted as soon as job is released to shop floor.

    • Change Orders: Estimating labor and material costs and negotiating price modifications with customers on Change Orders

    • Job Releases - assuring that jobs are released from engineering to the shop floor with sufficient time for fabrication

    • Material: managing material lead times versus on-site inventory to minimize costs while meeting delivery schedule

    • Expanding OEM sales / customer service

    • Development and implementation of sales strategies to create new business opportunities / see the opportunities

    • Manage sales, customer and rep interaction, and manage customer expectations

    • Assist with additional or large projects as required

    • Work together with all departments and department supervisors

    • Assist with purchasing duties when required

    • Assist in hiring of employees with regard to placing ads and possible screening of candidates

    • Management of employee issues together with the Production Manager, employee hiring and terminations

    • Communication with shop floor personnel together with the Production Manager

    • Implement any safety procedures, oversee all safety compliance re OSHA, and OSHA management/ interaction when required.

    • QC & ISO - manage the QC inspector and lead the ISO certification processes. Although the DoO is not directly responsible for profit and loss or setting financial goals, he/she will be responsible for meeting sales targets (monthly shipping) based upon customer needs and/or the number of employees and overhead. Input to the shop floor is not only welcome, but expected. Daily presence on the shop floor is also expected with the intent being daily visual inspections of welds, paint finish, and other manufacturing processes.

    A qualified candidate will have the requisite education and experience to lead an organization that is often in a very fluid state, and will be someone with integrity who is ready to take action when needed. The DoE should have a personality that instills confidence, and must communicate well at all levels of the organization and with customers.

    Preferred Skills and Traits

    • 15+ years of Operations Management experience in leadership roles

    • 15+ years working for or with OEM sheet metal fabricators and welders

    • 5+ years of strong Customer interface experience in a manufacturing environment

    • Technical background with the ability to read and comprehend drawings and technical documentation. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or structural engineering is preferred.

    • Working knowledge of ERP systems on an Oracle platform, and 3D modeling software such as Autodesk Inventor
